and there were tornadoes. and some hail. all night long.

What a night last night!

The news had been saying that we had a small chance of some severe thunderstorms, but I think that was definitely an understatement.

Anyway, I'll just cut to the chase:  we had multiple tornadoes in the area from two giant supercell storms colliding and merging in the metro.  Grapefruit sized hail, crazy winds, several waves of storms, all night long...  and supposed to start up again this afternoon.

I grabbed this picture from the news.  crazy!

There is a picture of some of the hail we had last night.  Isn't that nuts?

At our place, it was closer to golfball and tennis ball sized hail.  I don't think we got any that was quite as large as pictured.  There was a ton of lightning and thunder, and I think at least a couple fires started in the metro from lightning.  Power lines are down, trees are littering the ground... it looks like a war zone!  I'm so thankful that we weren't hit with any of the tornadoes...  they stayed north and south of us.

This morning there is insane flooding around the city.

Most of the flooding is north of where I'm located during the day at work, and at home.  I didn't have to drive through it, so I'm grateful... my little Honda would have floated away!

So, that's what I was up to last night!

Oh, I and whipped up some burgers for dinner.  I did not mix the meat with anything, just quickly shaped the 93/7 ground beef into patties and cooked them in a pan on the stove with some salt and pepper and garlic powder.  I was in a hurry, so it was nothing fancy.  They turned out really good, even though they were pretty simple burgers!

Served them with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and a jalapeno.  It was so spicy... I drank 3 glasses of water with my burger and had tears streaming down my face.  But I scarfed it down and then had a popsicle after dinner to help cool off.  I'm paying for it today...  my stomach is killing me and I'm popping Pepto Bismol pills like they're M&Ms or something.

Also served some kind of a macaroni and cheese and broccoli casserole.  We only had 1 cup of milk left, so I substituted 3/4 cup lowfat Greek yogurt and it turned out fine.  I also only had 1-1.25 c. cheese, but oh well.  I made do with what I had and it was very tasty.  Plus, all the broccoli was straight from my garden this week!

So, here's my meal, in all it's glory.  Didn't have time to take a bunch of fancy pictures because I was running late for a session at church.  Sorry, maybe next time!

broiled wheat bun, 1/3 avocado, salad mix, 6 oz (pre-cooked) hamburger, sauteed mushrooms, onions, jalapeno

Again, sorry for the ugly pictures...  but I guess they'll have to do.  The burgers were wonderful and the casserole turned out tasty, too.

Oh!  And I really want this skirt...  I have a coupon, but I can't decide which color/pattern to get.  Any opinions?

There is also a black and white striped one, but it's only available in stores right now, not online.
